Hartlepool Cycling and Walking

July 16, 2018

Just a short note before you break for the summer holidays to let you know about cycling and walking activities you can enjoy this summer.  Our colleagues from the Let’s Go Tees Valley team want to give families the chance to enjoy cycling and walking during the summer holidays, especially since we have such a beautiful area with loads of great places to go by bike.
Let’s Go have teamed up with Wheel Education and The Hub in Stockton to organise a series of family friendly bike rides around the Tees Valley, aimed at different ages and abilities, to make sure there’s something for everyone.  All the rides are free, and bikes and helmets are available to borrow.  Booking is essential.
It’s all part of the Let’s Go Big Summer campaign to provide ideas and inspiration for free and low cost events and activities for families over the holidays, with the emphasis on getting outdoors by bike and on foot.
You can find out about the bike rides, and the wider Big Summer campaign, at http://www.letsgoteesvalley.co.uk/big-summer/family-bike-rides/
Locally in Hartlepool we’ve recently partnered with the sustainable travel charity, Sustrans, to develop a Cycle Leader project for Hartlepool.  The idea is to recruit and train local volunteers to become Cycle Leaders and then have them lead guided bikes rides locally.  Finally, do remember that we offer a range of cycle training for schools including the Bikeability programme targeted to Years 5 and 6.  Its not just for schools however, we also offer cycle training for adults, anything from learn to ride sessions to commuter cycling.  For local information contact; tony.davison@hartlepool.gov.uk  (01429) 523259
Finally, if you fancy a walk check out the local summer walk programme by visiting   http://www.gethartlepoolactive.co.uk/walking
I hope this helps and happy cycling and walking!
